Biography

Michael Paul Mitchell (b.1984) is an American composer and performer who received a PhD in music composition from Louisiana State University. He has studied composition with Dr. Dinos Constantinides at LSU and Dr. Daniel Kerr at Brigham Young University-Idaho. His music has been performed by the Louisiana Sinfonietta, Bear Lake High School and Davidson High School in Mobile, AL.  

Michael also enjoys studying and performing on the French horn and has performed with the Teton Chamber Orchestra and the Idaho Falls Symphony and participated in the Chamber Music Institute at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with the woodwind quintet BC Winds. He has studied horn with Seth Orgel, Dr. Jon Klein, Kendall Nielsen, and John Owen.

 

Michael has written for many different ensembles but especially focuses on music for middle and high school ensembles and chamber woodwind and brass. 

 

Michael currently teaches music at Bear Lake Middle and High Schools in Montpelier, Idaho. Courses he teaches are Beginning Band, Advanced Band, High School Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Introduction to Music, Guitar and Coding.
